Strong easterlies are spreading north along the east coast, bringing showers, mainly to northern NSW and southern QLD. A high is clearing VIC, TAS and SA and is sending dry, brisk winds over the interior. A trough is causing storms in the tropics. Hot northeasterlies in WA.
The polar jet is losing strength over the southeast and is taking the coldest air with it across the Tasman Sea. The northern jet is sending high cloud over WA and is helping develop a surface trough on the west coast.
